    • ]]>     Hot off the press we have the first Comixed video slideshow on the potential and impact of Synthetic Biology. The discussion was  lead by Dr Martin Amos from Manchester Metropolitan University and is the first debate out of five held as part of the Comixed – A Comixed Networked Conservation.

    The comics are being illustrated and created by Manchester-based designer/illustrator team YOUNG who attended the event.

    YOUNG are Gethin Vaughan and Pete Jarvis.  They have also illustrated for the V&A museum and various other projects in the Manchester area.  Find out more on their website.

    They’ve kindly sent in a sneak peek of the comics ahead of the full launch later this week, along with a pithy blog post:

    “Half way through the week – it certainly has flown by!

    Three comic-book covers in – and we are pretty happy with the results so far! We decided to represent each of the debates as ‘album cover’ artwork – hoping that they will give a brief, humorous introduction into some of the issues raised. So far we have drawn an amalgamation of death eating worms, genetically modified chickens and unlikely heroes.”
